A. Lamar Miller

A. Lamar Miller passed away on July 5, 2021. He was 81 years old. Lamar was a Life Member of the ASQDE.

Mr. Miller was born in 1939 in Repton, Alabama. After high school, Lamar worked for the Auburn Police Department. He was also an Alabama State Trooper for several years before returning to school at Auburn University. 

While still in college, Lamar worked for what became the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. He graduated from Auburn with a degree in pharmacy.

​Lamar continued his career with the 
Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences as a forensic chemist and worked in various laboratories across the state.

​After attending a specialized training program at Georgetown University, Lamar became the forensic document examiner for the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. He held that  position until his retirement. Lamar testified as an expert witness in courts across the state and, and in his private practice, across the country.


In addition to being a Life Member of the ASQDE, Lamar was a Retired Fellow in the Questioned Documents Section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, first becoming a member in 1977. In 1988, he became one of the Charter Members of the Southeastern Association of Forensic Document Examiners. He was also certified by the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners.
