Albert S. Osborn Award
The Albert S. Osborn and Linton Godown Awards are the highest honors the ASQDE bestows on members who have contributed significantly to the ASQDE and the profession.
Albert S. Osborn Award of Excellence
The Albert S. Osborn Award of Excellence was created to recognize those individuals who have contributed above and beyond what is expected of a Society member. The criteria for the award are as follows:
- The recipient must be a living member in good standing of the ASQDE and may be a Regular, Associate, Corresponding, Life Member, or Corresponding Life Member at the time of the nomination.
- The recipient must have been active in the field of questioned document examination for a period of at least 25 years and must have been a member of the ASQDE for a period of at least 20 years.
- The award shall only be bestowed on persons who have attained exceptional distinction in terms of:
- Cumulative activities, such as professional research or literary accomplishments which advance the field of questioned document examination, and
- Outstanding service to the ASQDE over a long period of time, such service resulting in generally recognized and beneficial improvements in the Society.

James V. P. Conway was the very first recipient of the very first Albert S. Osborn Award of Excellence in 2000.

Donald B. Doud was awarded the 2005 Albert S. Osborn Award of Excellence.
Mr. Doud passed away before he could be officially presented with the award. Mr. Doud's widow, Jane Doud, was presented with the award at the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners in Montreal, Canada .
