Hans Mayer Gidion

Hans Mayer Gidion passed away on June 10, 2020. He was 91 years old. Hans was an Honorary Member of the ASQDE.
Mr. Gidion became an Associate Member of the ASQDE in 1981 and was voted an Honorary Member in 2004.
He was a regular fixture at ASQDE annual meetings until just a few years before his death. At the 1991 annual meeting, he gave a workshop on simulated signatures by an "Adept Penman."
Hans was born in Manheim, Germany in 1928. His family emigrated to the United States in 1936 and settled in Detroit. He later moved to New York to train as a commercial artist and was subsequently drafted into the Army where he stayed for 32 years.
Hans became a Special Agent with the Army's Criminal Investigation Division and later became a forensic document examiner in the Army's crime laboratory system. He spent much of that time working in the Army's laboratory in Japan.
He retired from the Army in 1982 and became opened a private practice near Augusta, GA. From there he worked for clients nationally and internationally until just a few years before his death.
