Edwin F. "Ed" Alford, Jr.

Edwin Franklin Alford, Jr. passed away on November 11, 2019. He was 87 years old. Ed was a Life Member of the ASQDE.
Mr. Alford was a veteran of the Korean War. He began his career as forensic document examiner in the 1950s.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service Inspection Service Laboratory until 1971, when he went to work at the U.S. Secret Service Laboratory where he was the Chief Document Examiner.
He also served as the Director of Forensic Services for the Secret Service.
Mr. Alford became an Regular Member of the ASQDE in 1975 and was later voted a Life Member.
After he retired from government service, he continued to work for the Secret Service as a contractor.
Ed was one of the examiners who was retained to conduct an examination of the ransom note in the Jon Benet Ramsey murder case.
