Joe Nemecek was the 14th president of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners.

Mr. Nemecek was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1916.   He became a police officer on the Phoenix Police Department in 1943 and was later trained as a questioned document examiner.  Prior to his police career, he worked repairing and rebuilding typewriters, which he found invaluable when examining document cases involving typewriters.  Mr. Nemecek retired from the police department in 1963 and entered private practice.  He retired from private practice in 1992.

Prior to election to president, Joe Nemecek served as the vice president of the Society.  He attended every meeting of the ASQDE from 1962 until 1991.  He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners and a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.  Mr. Nemecek passed away in 2000.
